Julien Sunier is a true master of Beaujolais, having spent nigh-on two decades crafting superbly balanced, sensationally sapid wines from three of the region's greatest Crus. This is his Régnié, a wonderfully light yet solidly built red that delights with its juicy red fruit character and touches of floral aromatics. A true benchmark for not only the 'natural' movement in Beaujolais, but for the region as a whole.
93/100 - Bark, tea leaves, mulberries and dried flowers on the nose. Even a touch of chamomile. Floral and elegant but with depth and power alongside the freshness and medium body. Drink or hold. - James Suckling
91/100 - The 2022 Régnié comes from four hectares of vines that will be divided into two cuvées beginning with the next vintage. It has a lovely bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit, well-defined with light tangerine scents. On the palate, plenty of weight (thanks to the warm and sunny vintage) balanced by a marked acidity. The mid-palate is marked by generous, creamy notes of red fruit perfectly balanced by powdery tannins and a saline, granitic finish.
