Le Pré du Col is a magnificent 6.5ha vineyard found in the tiny Ribbon Ridge AVA, Oregon's smallest viticultural region. Planted on marine sedimentary soil and farmed since its inception by acclaimed winemaker Josh Bergström, the vines from this site yield immensely powerful Pinot Noir renowned for alluring aromatics of spice, rare woods, incense, and oceanic salinity. Richly textured and layered with notes of fruited spice and earthy minerality, this is a seriously age-worthy Pinot from one of Oregon's finest wineries.

97/100 - The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pre Du Col Vineyard comes from a site with three different soil types and more shale and shallow soils. It shows off a pristine but more savory profile, with notes of mossy forest floor, preserved red cherries, and crushed flowers. It has a good bit of mineral texture, with slightly broader shoulders but a chiseled feel, and it’s mouthwatering and fresh, with great underlying, fantastic, balanced length. It’s going to age gracefully over the next 15 or more years. Bergstrom has been making this wine since 2018. - Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

95/100 - Intense salinity comes from this 2006 planted site in the Ribbon Ride appellation. The aromas of a salty sea breeze are joined by notes of wild green strawberries and freshly chopped spearmint. The palate is bright and beguiling with sappy red fruits playing against a streak of minerality and bright orange zest acidity that shows a lively and almost saline tinge to the finish. The finish lingers long, and there is a note of concentrated blood orange that leaves an exclamation mark at the end. Indeed an age-worthy wine that will only show more depth in years to come. - Clive Pursehouse, Decanter

17.5+/20 - Pale purple in colour. Denser than La Spirale with rich black plum joining the cherry. Chewy tannin on the palate with fresh acidity and an evolving pine-resin, soil-tinged finish. - Samantha Cole-Johnson, JancisRobinson.com

94/100 - The 2022 Pinot Noir Le Pre du Col Vineyard is coy in the glass, slowly blossoming with hints of wild strawberry, wilted violets, savory spice and wet stone. It’s lifted and finessed, with saline mineral tones up front that introduce its core of dark wild berry fruit, gaining a pretty inner sweetness over time. The 2022 firms up through the finale, leaving a coating of fine-grained tannins as a pleasantly bitter twang of tart blackberries slowly fades. Patience will be required to tame this savory beast. - Eric Guido, Vinous

On the nose, complex aromatics reminiscent of hiking through the Oregon coast range on a cool autumn day: sweet dew, salty air, chanterelles ripe for the picking, and woodsy forest floor. As the wine breathes, cane fruits—boysenberry, marionberry, and strawberry— create a melodious welcome.

On the palate, this medium-bodied wine has poignant precision with mineral structure and juicy acidity. The palate, while fruit-forward, is resinous and teeming with clove spice and nutmeg.
