The London Cru Pet Nat 2021 offers a unique twist on sparkling wine, embracing a mineral-rich and citrusy profile. This Pet Nat, short for 'Pétillant Naturel' which refers to a natural method of producing sparkling wine, is a blend of 75% Reichensteiner, 15% Bacchus, and 10% Pinot Gris. It diverges from typical fruity Pet Nats, presenting flavours of lemon sorbet and pear drops, coupled with a flinty aroma. Hand-harvested and processed in Fulham, the wine is fermented in an egg-shaped fermenter, enhancing its texture and complexity. The fermentation process concludes in the bottle under a crown cap, giving the wine its natural effervescence and cloudiness. Critically acclaimed with 17 points from Jancis Robinson.com, this Pet Nat has a limited production of just 1000 bottles. At 12% alcohol, it's a refreshingly different, lively nod to the seaside.
