In Sonoma's Petaluma Gap, the Clary Ranch Syrah 2021 stands out as Arnot-Roberts' coolest vineyard site. This unique microclimate, bathed in cool Pacific air, nurtures deeply pigmented and flavour-rich Syrah grapes. The wine captivates with its blend of game, scorched earth, tobacco, and black pepper, woven seamlessly with dark, red-fleshed fruit. Its coastal savouriness, exotic spice, and herbaceous notes are complemented by a structure of high natural acidity and immense tannins — a hallmark of this low-yield vintage. Stunning now and with the promise of graceful ageing, this dense and concentrated Syrah has been awarded a notable 97 points by Antonio Galloni.
97/100 - Captures all the coastal, cool-climate savoriness of the Petaluma Gap. Game, scorched earth, tobacco, and black pepper are all woven into a core of dark red-fleshed fruit. Huge tannins, a combination of site and vintage with ow juice yields wrap it all together. This dense, concentrated Syrah needs a few years in bottle, although it is already stunning in its beauty. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Perfumed and aromatic nose of dark berries and spice.
Intense flavours of black cherry and plum with an exotic spice hint on the finish.
These wines exhibit soaring aromatics, expressive exotic spice notes, and high natural acidity that are hallmarks of this wind scraped vineyard.
Produced from 100% Syrah. Organically produced.
Pairs well with duck and game dishes.

Duncan Arnot and Nathan Roberts presented an absolutely stellar collection of wines this year. The 2021s are simply magnificent from top to bottom. Some of the highlights include the Haynes and Trout Gulch Chardonnays, both of which are sublime. The highs get even higher in the Syrahs, all three of which are sublime. The Que Syrah Syrah might be the single most thrilling wine I have ever tasted from Arnot and Roberts. Readers will also want to check out the new Red Wine California, a special bottling that hopefully will become part of the permanent lineup. I can’t think of too many winemakers who are equally skilled at making gorgeous wines from so many different varieties. This was an unforgettable tasting.

WINERY HISTORY

Arnot-Roberts was founded by childhood friends Nathan Lee Roberts and Duncan Arnot Meyers. Established in Healdsburg in 2001, the pair’s relationship with wine stretches much further back. Both Napa Valley natives, they grew up deeply rooted in the community, surrounded by vineyards, winemakers, and the agrarian rhythms of California’s wine country. Following their graduation from university, Nathan... Read More >>
