This Cabernet Sauvignon from the Fellom Ranch vineyard is the most reticent of the Arnot-Roberts Cabernets. Intensely savoury and earthy, the natural concentration of small berries with little juice and high solids gives the wine its dense, brooding feel.
94/100 - The most broodingly tannic wine in this range. Readers will have to be patient, as 2019 is incredibly tightly wound today. Time in the glass brings out all of that Santa Cruz Mountains savoriness and intensity. Leather, iron, scorched earth, and tobacco fill out the layers over time. Blackberry, black cherry and baking spice on the nose. Full-bodied with firm, grippy tannins. Dried herbs and spice blend with a bit of cedar and pine. Earthy and savoury, but still full of fruit. Well balanced with very good intensity.
Produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, these 30 year old vines at Fellom Ranch produce grapes with intense concentration.
The cool airflow from the nearby Pacific Ocean lends balance and elegance to the wines.
Can drink from release; would age beautifully for a further 10 years.
Can be delightfully enjoyed alongside a classic bolognese, or as a perfect accompaniment to grilled or stuffed portobello mushrooms.
