Telmo Rodríguez is one of Spain's great modern winemakers, with bottlings produced across many of the countries exceptional wine producing regions. This is his and business partner Pablo Eguzkia's project in Valencia's Alicante region, whose treasure trove of old vine Monastrell (Mourvèdre) was discovered by the duo back in 2001. A stunning iteration of the grape, the Roberson team were simply blown away by this wine when we first tried. A truly Mediterranean expression, this wine sings of dark fruit, smokiness, and savoury herbs with both excellent depth and a surprising lightness-of-touch. At only £13.90, this is value virtually unprecedented in wine today.
On the palate, bold flavours of dark fruits and garrigue lead the way to an expressive, spicy, and wonderfully long finish. Excellent acidity and firm yet smooth tannins produce a perfectly balanced red.
