Ridge Vineyards are California winemaking icons, and for good reason. Specialising in old vine plantings, their practical, hands-off approach to winemaking and the exceptional results of these methods have long been the foundation of their critical acclaim. Geyserville is one of their oldest and most enduring cuvées, entirely old vine Zinfandel, Carignan, Petite Sirah, and Alicante Bouschet showing concentrated and alluring flavours with a lovely kiss of California sunshine.
94/100 - The 2019 Geyserville marks a pretty huge step up in this range. What a wine! Black cherry, plum, chocolate, cloves, menthol and licorice blast across the palate. 16.5/20 - Tasted blind. Medium ruby in colour. A brambly dustiness on the nose and a whiff of alcohol. Aromas of sweet sticky dried cranberries and cherries with a sprinkle of dried thyme. 94/100 - A beautiful red with lots of blackberries, cloves, stone, spice and purple fruit. It’s full and balanced with a creamy texture and a flavorful finish. Some graphite to the black fruit.
