Piedrasassi's Syrahs are tiny production, cool-climate wines made by one of the best winemakers in California. PS is their entry-level wine. Offering absolutely stunning value, it has much of the complexity and elegance of the single vineyard offerings.
91/100 - The 2021 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is fabulous. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, black pepper, herbs, incense and tobacco all build in this racy, almost shockingly opulent young Syrah. This dense, juicy Syrah is lights out. 18/20 - Very dark garnet. Smells of dark berries and herbs. Wonderfully savoury flavours of underbrush, herbs and meaty dark berries possess a faintly smoky quality, accentuated by powdery tannins. 92/100 - The 2021 Syrah Santa Barbara County is scented of black raspberries, candied blackberries, cracked pepper, smoked meats and green olive. The medium-bodied palate is bright and chalky with restrained yet nuanced fruit and a long, latent finish.
