Pavillon de Leoville Poyferre 2009

From the fruit of Leoville-Poyferre’s younger vines in the heart of Saint Julien and made in the style of its big brother, the Pavillon is strikingly pure and refined. The nose gives bright, fresh fruit - morello cherries, sloes, and hints of cedar and oak. Very much an example of a modern, flashy Saint-Julien, the palate is dense and opulent yet held taut by a fine weave of tannic structure. Exceptional value, this offers a glimpse of the 100 point Grand Vin for a fraction of the price.
16.5/20 - Very dramatic ripeness! Essence of blackberries. Lots of chew on the end. Real vitality here. Sinewy. Polished. - Jancis Robinson MW
92/100 - This is a young wine with aromas of red fruits and cedar on the nose. There is a lovely level of spice and precision. The palate shows good grip but is still a bit green. It needs lots of time. (Tasted Dec. 2016) - Jane Anson, Sebastian Payne MW, Steven Spurrier for Decanter
