While it may be the second wine of the cru classé Château Lagrange, this red blend bears a striking resemblance to its better-known sibling. Composed entirely of fruit grown in AOC Saint-Julien, this 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot blend delights with finesse, elegance, and balance indicative of its famed terroir.
90-92/100 - The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange is deep garnet-purple colored with earthy, mushroomy notions and savory meats over a cassis and plums core plus herbs hints. The 2018 Les Fiefs de Lagrange is absolutely gorgeous. Hints of iron, smoke, cedar, dried flower and blood orange infuse this succulent, racy second wine. All the elements fall into place. Situated in the village of Saint-Julien, this estate spans 118ha of red fruit vines. Spanning two hills with slopes orientated both North and South, the soils of Lagrange are composed of the clay, limestone, and pebbles which make the the Left Bank famous.
Each varietal was vinified separately, with initial fermentation in stainless before 13 months of maturation in 20% new French oak barrels.
Dark purple in colour.
Intense nose of black cherries, crème de cassis, and crushed violets.
The palate is marked by a crisp acidity and a tensile, lively mouthfeel.
