France > Beaujolais > Morgon

Decades ago, Charly Thévenet helped reinvent Beaujolais by pioneering organic farming methods and conscientious viticulture. Now joined by his son Jean-Paul, these dynamic vignerons continue to hone their skill with each passing the vintage. This Morgon comes from old vines on the Thévenet estate, with an average of of 70-years-old. A classic Beaujolais, this is a Morgon beyond your wildest dreams. Stunning.

On the nose, a potpourri of bright red and black fruits with cherry skin, black raspberry, spice, citrus, and earth dominating.

On the palate, silky but firm with earthy tannins, and a sapid red fruit finish framed by a grainy minerality provided from the granite and decomposed shale soils.

Enjoyable in its youth, this Beaujolais will reward careful cellaring more than many of its peers. Try in 2027.

Try pairing alongside venison stew or roast lamb shoulder.

The renaissance of Beaujolais may have begun with the philosophy of icon Jules Chauvet, but it reached its maturity under his disciples, the renowned ‘Gang of Four.’ Following in Chauvet’s footsteps, Marcel Lapierre, Guy Breton, Jean Foillard, and Jean-Paul began creating terroir-driven wines of remarkable complexity and...
