This is a fabulous example of Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Patrick Jasmin. Beautifully coloured, this wine packs all the dark red fruit and spice one could hope for from a Côte-Rôtie.
92/100 - Brilliant ruby. Bright and focused on the nose, displaying spice- and mineral-tinged red berry, cherry and floral scents that pick up smoke and cracked pepper nuances as the wine opens up. Juicy and light on its feet, especially given the vintage, offering sweet raspberry, cherry and lavender pastille flavours and a hint of salty olive paste. Fine-grained tannins add grip to a long, lively finish that echoes the olive and cherry notes. Drink 2022 - 2030. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous
On the palate, it is smooth and round with an excellent finish.

True to the tradition of Côte-Rôtie, this wine is a blend of almost entirely Syrah with just a touch of Viognier.
Patrick Jasmin is a fourth generation winegrower in the Northern Rhône, having worked at his family's domaine since 1978. His 6-hectare property in Ampuis - home of the finest Côte-Rôtie wines - is planted 95% to Syrah and 5% to Viognier. He practises sustainable viticulture, with low yields, and takes a somewhat artisan approach, carrying out all tasks on the steep hillsides by hand. He vinifies his grapes parcel by parcel and intervenes as little as possible.
Patrick Jasmin favours aromatic finesse over power. His wines are elegant and supple with a very fresh and refined range of aromas that perfectly express the terroir's distinctive character. Élevage is extensive (around 24 months), though usage of new oak is carefully moderated. These wines are very nice to drink young but also have excellent ageing potential.
