The signature wine of JF Coutelou, one of France's defining organic and natural producers, Classe is a limp-smacking blend of Syrah and Grenache with a touch of Carignan mixed in. Certified organic since 1987 with no record of a single chemical treatment in family history, Mas Coutelou has long bucked prevailing trends in the Languedoc. Focused on the production of refined wines of place, JF crafts delightfully refreshing, drinkable wines in a region known for bulk insipidness. Classe is a wine that consistently overdelivers for its price, offering supple, silky tannins and prettily perfumed notes of bramble fruit, spice ,and flowers.
On the palate, lovely and refreshing with juicy, lip-smacking fruit. Silky tannins provide structure, while touches of underlying minerality add contrast and brevity. Flavours of ripe black fruit are balanced by hints of pepper and garrigue before an elegant, mid-length finish marked by mouth-watering acidity.
