France > Beaujolais > Brouilly

Named 'Cuvée Mélanie' in honour of winemaker Daniel Bouland's daughter, this Cru Beaujolais comes from 70-year old vines planted on the southern slope of Mont Brouilly. Renowned for crafting some of the most old-school-cool and expressive wines in the whole of the Beaujolais, Daniel lives up to his reputation in this wine, characterised by its notes of rich spicy fruit and a marked stony flavour on the finish. Delicious now but with plenty of potential for cellaring this is one of the Beaujolais' finest wines, bar none.

On the nose, pure and expressive bouquet of cherries and pomegranate, alongside touches of savoury smokiness and hints of thyme and rose.

On the palate, beautifully structured, vibrant, and complex, with a lovely core of dark red fruits. A tangy acidity and smooth tannins balance each other out, leading to a long and graceful finish.

Drink now - 2032.

Consider pairing alongside Pot-au-feu, a pork roast, or ratatouille.
