Assyrtiko has rightly established itself as one of Europe's great white varieties, and this example from fifth-generation winemaker Christos Zafeirakis is the best the Roberson Team have tasted in a while. Grown organically near the base of Mount Olympus, this iteration is reminiscent of those grown on Santorini, yet with a touch more heft and texture. Displaying all the crisp, mineral refreshment for which Assyrtiko is famed, this is an ideal wine for anyone seeking a light, enlivening white.
On the palate, medium-bodied and wonderfully textured with flavours of stone fruit and Meyer lemon curd. Clean, fresh, and precise with a bracing acidity, the lengthy finish concludes with classic Assyrtiko salinity.
Best enjoyed in its youth, drink this white within the next 3-5 years.
