Miani are one of the most revered winemaking estates anywhere in Italy, famed for their remarkable white and red wines produced in the northwest corner of the country. Sitting on a hilly slice of the Udine province near the border with Slovenia, the vineyards have been meticulously tended by owner Enzo Pontoni for decades. This is his Casa Rossa Sauvignon Blanc, a wonderful example of the variety sourced from Pontoni's organically farmed vineyards and fermented in used French oak barrels. Aged for 10 months in French oak and an additional 6 months in steel, this is a wonderfully soft, savoury Sauvignon unlike any other in the world. Aromatically complex notes of mountain herbs, white peach, and citrus peel burst from the glass, alongside a soft yet intense palate showing remarkable refreshment and finesse. A true cult wine worthy of a place in any cellar.
