Aligoté is all too often the forgotten third child of Burgundy. With Chardonnay and Pinot Noir hogging the headlines and high prices, it's rare to see exceptional winemakers dip their toes into Aligoté. However, a few brave producers continue to maintain Burgundian heritage by crafting delightful iterations of this indigenous grape. Characterised by green fruits, citrus and flint, this is a complex wine with all the finesse and precision one expects from the de Moors.
90/100 - The 2022 Bourgogne Aligoté, from vines planted between 1995 and 2000, was vinified in vat with 11 months on the lees. It shows a sprightly bouquet, well defined with a touch of blackcurrant leaf infusing the citrus fruit. A hint of apricot and quince develop with aeration. The palate is crisp and taut, with a killer line of acidity. Very saline with a strict and satisfying finish. - Neal Martin, Vinous
On the palate, notes of orchard fruit abound alongside noticeable texture and depth and a touch of citrus fruit. Starting quite bright, the wine broadens before finishing with a fantastically saline, spicy note.
Enjoy as an apéritif, or pair with grilled or steamed white fish and simple salads.
