While often outshone by its more famous cousin Chardonnay, Aligoté is a superb white wine variety that can be found across Burgundy. This is one of our favourite examples, a wonderfully light yet delightfully gastronomic bottling produced by the mercurial Romaric Chavy. Sourced from a plot of 60-year-old vines on the plains surrounding Puligny-Montrachet, the deep clay soils of the vineyard yield an Aligoté of marked concentration and depth. Opulent, lively, and exotic, this Aligoté sings of citrus and yellow-fleshed fruit. Dangerously delicious.

On the nose, lovely aromas of golden apples, lemon zest, and lemongrass with a distinct note of salinity.

On the palate, a lemony acidity is perfectly offset by gently yeasty noted and a creamy texture. Flavours of ripe lemon, lemon zest, ripe apples, and wet stones dance across the palate.

WINERY HISTORY

While many native Burgundians are enmeshed in wine from an early age, few start formal training as early as Romaric Chavy. Enrolling at wine school aged just twelve years old, Romaric honed his craft during apprenticeships at prominent wineries like Domaine d’Aupilhac and Radford-Dale. Having... Read More >>
