Vineyards and Winemaking
Vineyard location: Crafted from grapes grown in the Holtermann vineyard (53%) and those of West Sonoma Coast friends (47%), located in the West Sonoma Coast appellation.
Farming practices: Farmed using sustainable and organic practices. The vineyard is dry-farmed, and the grapes are handpicked to ensure the highest quality fruit is used in the winemaking process.
Climate: Cool, coastal and heavily influenced by the Pacific Ocean. The region experiences moderate temperatures and abundant fog, which creates a long, slow growing season for the grapes.
Harvest: Handpicked in early September, at optimal ripeness. The fruit was carefully sorted to ensure only the best grapes were used in the wine.
Aging: Aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, 35% of which were new.
Bottling: Bottled in August 2022, after undergoing a light filtration.
Tasting Notes
Aromas: Highly perfumed, with intense aromas of ripe red raspberry, black cherry, and tangerine pith. Complemented by hints of sappy fir needles, mint, and white pepper.
Taste: Well integrated and precisely balanced. Bright notes of red raspberry and black cherry combine with a vibrant acidity and a hint of tangerine pith.
Finish: Silky and persistent, with a long finish.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Highly versatile and pairs well with a range of dishes, from roasted poultry and pork to grilled salmon or tuna. Its bright acidity and fruit flavours make it a great match for earthy mushroom dishes or pasta with a tomato-based sauce.
Cellaring Potential
This wine is drinking beautifully now, but can also be aged for up to 5-7 years.
