France > Languedoc-Roussillon > Corbières

From one of France's most exciting up-and-coming winemakers comes this high-calibre rosé with a fruity nose and notes of spice and garrigue. The palate is full-bodied, with a lot of freshness and drinkability, rounded off with a delightfully spicy finish.

94/100 - Maxime Magnon's concise range of wines from his little corner of the Corbières is quite extraordinary. He has made this rosé (more of a 'clairet') since 2011. Having met Eric Pfifferling in 2002, he realised that for him it was the rosés of Tavel that constituted a true rosé wine. Métisse is a maceration of Lledoner Pelut and Cinsault, blended with direct press Carignan, aged in a combination of old oak and stainless steel. It's light on its feet, with scores of cherry skin and crunchy red apple, finely textured on the palate with a lick of liquorice and a lifted, aerial finish. - Natalie Earl, Decanter

This delicious pink is a blend of 40% Grenache Noir, 40% Cinsault, 10% Carignan, and 10% Syrah.
Vineyard grown organically, situated at the heart of the Hautes Corbières, at 200 metres altitude. The vines are planted on schist and clay-limestone soils. Grapes are harvested by hand, with little crates.
Vinification: fermentation at low temperatures, indigenous yeasts, this is a rosé de saignée so only the free-run juice from a future red wine, maturation in vats for about 10 months.
Bottled at the Estate without fining or filtration.

Maxime Magnon

Maxime Magnon may be Burgundian by birth, but his incredible skill as a vigneron was not a result of being born into a family of winemakers or vineyard owners, it is due to the personal journey he has taken and those he has studied under. Initially heading south, he first settled in Morgon where he worked under Jean Foillard, then... Read More >>
