Greywacke is one of Marlborough's most important producers, with its 25 years in operation running parallel with the increased international recognition of the region. Named in reference to the dominant soil type of the region, Greywacke has developed a well-earned reputation as one of New Zealand's greatest producers of Sauvignon Blanc. This, his entry level bottling, is an elegant yet striking interpretation of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc - textural and opulent, lifted and lingering.
91/100 - The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc may not be most aromatic example of the variety you'll ever encounter, but it is pretty, elegant and balanced, which is more challenging to achieve. It offers delicate, pure flavors of elderflower and pear. Lovely waxy texture and slaty tone on the palate with rather full body for Sauvignon Blanc, and excellent persistence.
