Since purchasing this mountain-top wine estate in 2007, winemaker Jeffrey Patterson has worked tirelessly to elevate Domaine Eden to the dazzling heights of his neighbouring operation, Mount Eden. This Chardonnay is a singularly brilliant white, benefitting tremendously from its location in avoiding the 2020 fires that plagued much of Northern California. Highlighted by forward fruit, this effortlessly enjoyable white is remarkably terroir expressive while retaining its light and elegant character. A true standout, this wine is just staring to evolve in a bottle; a sign that suggests great ageing potential.
The 2020 Chardonnay is a terrific wine for the year. Aromatic and light on its feet, with impeccable balance, the 2020 impresses with its harmony more than anything else. On the palate, a striking, steely accent of minerality and fresh acidity runs the length of this wine. Lemon peel flavours are clear, as are touches of toasted nuts on the long, satisfying finish.
