California is one of the world's leading producers of the oft unsung Petite Sirah variety, also known as Durif. A crossing of Syrah and Peloursin which arose in France in the 1860s, the grape was planted widely in California by French immigrants in the late 19th century. Named for the tiny, highly concentrated berries the vine yields, Petite Sirah is a boldy structured, deeply-coloured red wine characterised by its high tannin content and dark fruit flavours. A well-kept secret in California winemaking, its dark colour and robust flavours have made it a key blending component in some of the state's greatest red wines. It thrives in the sandy sols and warmer climate of Lodi, where these ideal conditions perfectly balance the bold and opulent nature of the wine with an elegant structure. Sumptuous and alluring, this wine will drink wonderfully now and for decades in the future. 

93/100 - This wine is deep, with aromas of blackberry, black currant jam, spice, florals and toasty oak on the nose. The flavors on the palate are brambled mulberry, blueberry and citrus zest woven into cinnamon spice, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla cream and a dry, long finish.
