France > Beaujolais > Morgon

Decades ago, Charly Thévenet helped reinvent Beaujolais by pioneering organic farming methods and conscientious viticulture. Now joined by his son Jean-Paul, these dynamic vignerons continue to hone their skill with each passing the vintage. This Morgon is bursting with juicy red fruits and blackberry compote. At what first appears to be an easy drinking red is rounded out by notes of spices, herbs, and a surprising complexity that perfectly complements a wine so light on its feet.

On the nose, fine and delicate with sapid notes of cherries and raspberries as well as touches of violets.

On the palate, pleasantly round and ample, closer to the powerful end of the spectrum for Morgon. Dark cherries and red currant abound alongside delicate hints of baking spice. Silky tannins lead to a surprisingly long finish.

Morgon at its best, vividly vibrant and earthily structured.

Enjoy slightly chilled out of the fridge. Enjoyable as an apéritif, try serving alongside fennel and blood orange salad, grilled salmon, or roast chicken with herbs de Provence.

Thevenet works a plot of extremely old vines in the Morgon appellation. The average age of the vines is 70 years and they are cultivated organically... Read More >>
