91+/100 - An impressive field blend of 16 different varieties and where the wine gets its name, the 2022 Sixteen is fresh, expressive and balanced with aromas of wax melon, crunchy yellow cherry and dusty lemons. Medium-bodied and with a touch of underripe apricots and peach flavors on the palate, the wine is fresh, expressive and mineral driven with layers of finesse and elegance. The white blend ends with a long, lingering finish. Just under 3,000 bottles were produced from grapes that were naturally fermented in old 500-liter French oak barrels. - Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate
91/100 - The 2022 Sixteen Field Blend is named after the number of complanté varieties in a single block that I will not list one by one, with partial malo (it is not forced.) It was picked as two blocks. I must confess that with such a gallimaufry of grape varieties, I did not know whether that would detract from its focus, but it actually seems to work with orange blossom, nectarine, white peach and persimmon. Fine delineation. The palate is well-balanced with tropical notes of passion fruit, guava and pineapple. There’s a fine bead of acidity, fresh and lively, with a nicely focused, quite persistent finish. There's just a tang of lemongrass on the aftertaste. Excellent. - Neal Martin, Vinous
17.5/20 - It smells beautiful. Like lemon curd and lemon-drizzle cake. Like walking into a patisserie. My god, the concentration and intensity of this wine is staggering. It is stunning. Quince, candied citrus peel, linden. Wildly, insanely intense and delicious. How do you even describe this wine? Lemon marmalade? It's more like One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, a magical folk tale in every sip, a storyteller of a wine. Kiara Scott is a bewitchingly wonderful winemaker. - Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com
93/100 - Salted limes, white chalk, quince and apricot, a rush of water over riverstones – utterly compelling and appetising aromatics. A field blend of 16 varieties interplanted as bushvines on shale, quartz, clay and granite. The expression is kept raw and nervy with hands-off elevage in amphorae, old oak and concrete eggs. Lemon-lashed stone fruit slides to the finish, wrapping up stony and dry. - Malu Lambert, Decanter
