The second vintage of Arnot-Roberts' California Red, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (57%), Merlot (21%), and Cabernet Franc (22%) is inspired from the wines of a bygone era. Built from low-yielding parcels across the state, this red is fresh and vibrant with bright aromatics and savoury tannins.
92/100 - The 2022 Red Wine California is a very pleasant, fruity wine, especially in this vintage. About 50% of the wine was aged in cement. 92/100 - The 2022 California Red Wine is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and 21% Merlot from vines across Sonoma County, and the wine was matured for 10 months in concrete and used barriques. “It’s Cabernet for drinking, not putting on a pedestal,” cofounder Duncan Arnot Meyers says. It has bright scents of red and black cherries, pipe tobacco, savory herbs and violet. The medium-bodied palate offers concentrated, transparent flavors structured by chalky tannins and bright acidity, and it has a long, perfumed finish. - Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

This wine is built from amazing low-yielding sites but made in an approachable style. The base of the wine is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Bedrock Vineyard, expertly grown in rock-strewn soils in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. The majority of the Cabernet Franc in this blend hails from Persia Vineyard, located in an isolated valley in a rocky pocket of the Chalk Hill appellation, close to our beloved Clajeux Vineyard. The final component of this wine is a small batch of Cabernet Sauvignon along with a tiny bit of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, coming from the Las Cimas Vineyard, perched in the coastal hills overlooking the Russian River Valley.
