Domaine Thomas Morey Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2022

With a family history in Chassagne-Montrachet dating back sixteen generations, it is fair to say that Thomas Morey is no stranger to the Chardonnay grape. In this wine, he uses what is, perhaps, the greatest Chardonnay fruit in the world to craft a wine of stunning purity, elegance, and finesse. Structured yet ethereal, this is a wine defined by its freshness and alluring notes of pear, white peach, citrus pith, and white flowers. Rich and full-bodied, this is a truly stunning white wine that should age for years to come. 

94/100 - A cool, elegant and wonderfully spicy nose of mostly citrus, pear and acacia blossom is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. I very much like the mouthfeel of the seductive and refined larger-scaled flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract on the clean, markedly dry and impressively long finale. This is very clearly built-to-age and a Bâtard that's going to need at least a decade to reach its apogee. Excellent. - Allen Meadows, Burghound

92-96/100 - The Bâtard-Montrachet was quite hard to decipher. What seemed at first as though it might be a greener note morphed into a peaches and honeysuckle character. There is no problem with the central core of white fruit, but these more exotic notes suggest that this could show the summer sunshine more as it develops with age. Drink from 2029-2038.
