Julien Sunier is a true master of Beaujolais, having spent nigh-on two decades crafting superbly balanced, sensationally sapid wines from three of the region's greatest Crus. This is his Régnié, a wonderfully light yet solidly built red that delights with its juicy red fruit character and touches of floral aromatics. A shining example of what 'natural' wine can be, this is a sophisticated and complex red with just a touch of wildness around the edges.
94/100 - A lively, precise, succulent and energetic gamay. On the nose it exhibits dried raspberries, forest floor, stones and white peppercorns. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and crisp acidity. Focused, vivid, bight and succulent, with a silky texture and a long, flavorful finish. A lovely mineral touch on the aftertaste. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. - James Suckling
On the palate, plenty of weight (thanks to the warm and sunny vintage) balanced by a marked acidity. The mid-palate is marked by generous, creamy notes of red fruit perfectly balanced by powdery tannins and a saline, granitic finish.
