Marlène Soria is widely regarded as one of Southern France's greatest vignerons, with the estate-agent-turned-winemaker's Languedoc reds belonging to the highest echelon of French wines. Belle Léone is a Syrah-dominant blend, sourced from decades-old, organically farmed vines on Marlène's estate in Saint-Pergoire. A dash of Mourvèdre from the same vineyard is blended in, adding a touch of perfume and balance to this deeply flavoured, delightfully intense red wine. Poised between power and delicacy, this is a gem of a wine full to the busrting with complex aromatics of black fruits, spice, violets and garrigue.
On the palate, bold flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant, and blackberry jump from the glass. Touches of burnt earth, anise, vanilla, and savoury herbs round out the tasting experience. Well-structured with velvetty tannins, a clean throughline of acidity leads to a long, spice-tinged finish.
