The Clajeux Vineyard is located on a steep, volcanic hillside overlooking a secluded valley in the Chalk Hill region of Sonoma County. The team at Arnot-Roberts have worked with the same 14 rows in this site since 2003, expertly drawing out every nuance from this incredible vineyard. The fruit yields their most elegant Cabernet, marked by its superb varietal distinction, refined tannins, and streamlined acidity. Understated and herbal in all the right ways, the Clajeux delights with its notes of cassis, blackberry, and savoury dried herbs.

94/100 - Arnot-Roberts' longest-standing vineyard partner since 2003, Clajeux, is a hillside site in Chalk Hill, just above the Russian River Valley. The 2022 Cabernet is basket pressed to neutral French oak barrels for 22 months. It showcases a powerful blend of sweet and tart blue and blackberries, complemented by a hint of tangy marmalade. On the nose, it offers aromas of violets, dried spices, and a bouquet garni. The well-drained, rocky volcanic soils in the vineyard impart a chalky minerality that supports the young tannins in the wine. With an inviting 12% ABV, this well-rounded Cabernet has a bright future if you allow it a few years in the bottle. Only four barrels were produced. - Ana Carolina Quintela, Decanter

93/100 - The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Clajeux Vineyard is so appealing. Medium in body and perfumed, the 2022 is aromatically expressive and nicely layered. Blue/purplish fruit, spice, lavender, mocha and gravel all build in the glass. The Clajeux is a bit lighter than most years, but the signatures are there. This is very nicely done. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

On the nose, enticing aromatics of juicy red plum, pomegranate, and blackberries are joined by high-toned notes of white pepper, cloves, mint, and violets.

On the palate, a decidedly juicy and expressive Cabernet. A core of red/purplish fruit dominates, alongside hints of rose petal, lavender, and blood orange. Terrifically fresh and lively, beautifully integrated tannins lead to a long and sapid finish.

WINERY HISTORY

Arnot-Roberts was founded by childhood friends Nathan Lee Roberts and Duncan Arnot Meyers. Established in Healdsburg in 2001, the pair’s relationship with wine stretches much further back. Both Napa Valley natives, they grew up deeply rooted in the community, surrounded by vineyards, winemakers, and the agrarian rhythms of California’s wine country. Following their graduation from university, Nathan... Read More >>
