This Austrian Riesling is crafted from fruit grown in the Steinberg vineyard, a simply brilliant site whose gravel soils and tricenarian vines are perfect for growing top-class white. A juicy and open example of Riesling, this wine packs a delightful punch of sapid stone fruits with plenty of potential to develop in bottle over the years.
91/100 - The 2023 Riesling was grown in the gravels of an old riverbed called Ried Steinberg. It is made in stainless steel only; the wine comes from old vines but is harvested earlier. The difference between this and the Alte Reben Riesling is that this is made entirely without botrytis. This was harvested in October, and a flicker of tangerine peel flashes deliciously on the nose. The palate is light, yeasty, flowing and smooth, again with that Ebner-Ebernauer yeasty saltiness. It is enticing, with a finish that combines yeast and citrus. (Bone-dry) - Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous
