The Meursault ‘La Rencontre’ comes from two terroirs in Meursault, ‘Les Pelles’ and ‘Sous La Velle’, both planted with vines of over 75 years old on average.

93/100 - This cuvée emerges from two lieux-dits, Les Pelles and Sous La Velles, both populated with vines over 75 years old, matured with just 10% new oak. Lucid silvery in hue, the 2020 offers an exquisite bouquet laced with mineral-infused yellow fruit. It is almost Puligny in style, eliciting so much vibrancy and energy that it seems to be run off the mainline electricity. It’s amazingly well-focused. That is translated onto the palate, which has marvelous tension, with notes of linseed oil, yellow plums and orange pith. There is real depth and persistency in the mouth, a very subtle and unobtrusive reduction, plus a leesy finish that, thankfully, only gradually tapers away. It is a fantastic Meursault that will give 20, perhaps 30 years of drinking pleasure. Drink 2025-2045. - Neal Martin, Vinous

On the nose, this wine shows delicate aromas of ripe pear, toasted hazelnut, and floral notes.
On the palate it is fresh and generous, with a creamy texture and delicate woody notes.

An excellent example of Meursault.

Pair with light seafood dishes, soft cheeses, or alongside poultry.

Since 1998, Domaine Bernard-Bonin has been run impeccably by Nicolas Bernard and Veronique Bonin, a daughter of the well-known Michelot family. The talented couple own and cultivate seven hectares, including vineyards in Meursault, Meursault 1er Cru, and Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru. Nicolas follows time-honoured winegrowing traditions; hand-harvesting, respecting the phases of the moon, and employing minimal intervention in the cellar. Each wine expresses a personality derived from its terroir, with their character defined by the climatic variances of the year, with the premier cru vineyards harvested last. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 15–18 months. During this time, each barrel is tasted individually to determine the optimum exchange between wine and lees, with no sulphur additions, only active CO2 to protect the wine in the barrel.

These are wines that continue to mature in the bottle, and the results carry the characteristics of the finest wines of Meursault: exquisitely fresh, rich, mineral, and vibrant.
