98/100 - [...] Medium gold in color, it offers blockbuster aromas of honeyed pineapple, orange marmalade, flower oil, and blanched almond. Full-bodied, deep, and opulent on the palate, it has a layered, powerful mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. The fruit is pressed and the juice goes straight, without any settling, into barrels and is then fermented there. Despite 75% new French oak, most of the barrels were larger format and thus the oak manifests itself in a more subtle way.
All the fruit is estate grown, with most of it coming from Krankl's Eleven Confessions vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills (more than 70%), with the remainder from The Third Twin and Cumulus vineyards.
