R. Lopez de Heredia Vina Cubillo Crianza 2017

Bodegas R. López de Heredia is one of Rioja’s most iconic estates, and a true Spanish wine treasure. Founded in 1877 by Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, it remains family-owned and deeply committed to tradition. From its base near Haro’s railway station, it helped shape Rioja’s historic links with Bordeaux and still embodies the ageless elegance of classic Rioja today.

Viña Cubillo is one of Lopez de Heredia’s vineyards in the Rioja Alta region of Rioja, about 4 km from the winery. Made from 40 year old+ vines grown at 400 mt of elevation, this wine easily exceeds its Crianza status. Expect dried red cherries, forest floor and leather notes as well as dried cranberry and herbs. On the palate, it's medium bodied, with supple and smooth tannin, refreshing acidity and good depth of flavours.

92/100 - The 2017 Viña Cubillo combines 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo from Rioja Alta. This aged for three years in American oak barrels. Offering vinous aromas, gentle oak and dark fruit with herbal notes, the frost-hit vintage provided lighter fruit and greener flavors.
