R. Lopez de Heredia Vina Bosconia Reserva 2013

Bodegas R. López de Heredia is one of Rioja’s most iconic estates, and a true Spanish wine treasure. Founded in 1877 by Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta, it remains family-owned and deeply committed to tradition. From its base near Haro’s railway station, it helped shape Rioja’s historic links with Bordeaux and still embodies the ageless elegance of classic Rioja today.

Viña Bosconia is made from a vineyard called El Bosque, situated next to the river Ebro at around 465m of elevation, just one kilometre away from our winery.  Vines are planted on the south-facing foothills of the Sierra Cantabria range, providing them with the perfect conditions for ripening. The soil is a mixture of clay and limestone, and the average age of the vines is 40 years. Often considered the most elegant among the estate's red bottlings, it combines complexity and depth of flavour with a sense of 'lightness' on the palate which conceals its real structure.

17/20 - Shaded ruby with a blackish tinge. Pure classic Rioja nose and fruit. Low alcohol! Every bit as good as other Bosconias I have tasted. Good value for such a classic wine that's 12 years old. - Jancis Robinson MW
