This single vineyard site lies just about 13km from the Pacific Ocean on Falstaff Road. This ocean influence makes Falstaff an exceptionally cool climate vineyard, meaning these grapes are always the last picked fruit of the season. These meagre yields contribute to an intense, well-balanced style of Pinot Noir with all the signature allure of cold climate Pinot Noir.
92/100 - The 2022 Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard is bright and effusive right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, white pepper, mint and orange peel all confer brightness. Medium in body and light on its feet, the Falstaff is sublime. It's also one of the more approachable wines in this lineup of 2022s. 17/20 - Transparent crimson. Savoury, herbal nose. Very refreshing and finely balanced. Sufficient fruit concentration to overcome the tannin. Appetising dry finish. On the palate, loads of cherry and raspberry with a tinge of citrus and bitterness. Well-structured with distinct minerality, this is a beautiful Pinot Noir.
