This Pinot from Jamie Kutch comes from Bohan Ranch, a 4th generation family owned farm. The Pinot Noir vines were planted in 1974 without rootstock. The vines were farmed dry land without any form of irrigation from the get go. This caused the vines to send their roots deep down into the Yorkville Laughlin soil in their search for water, creating hard wearing vines that produce grapes with intense concentration and character.
93/100 - The 2021 Pinot Noir Bohan Vineyard is rich, pliant and super-expressive. Succulent red cherry, spice, leather, blood orange, cedar and incense fill out the layers nicely. This pliant, beautifully resonant Pinot has a ton to offer. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
17/20 - Bright mid purplish crimson. Meaty, open nose – very friendly! Extremely pure fruit on the palate – already beautifully balanced. Sprightly with fresh, but not skinny, Pinot fruit. Not unlike the energy of a fine Vosne or Morey. Yes! But perhaps not one of the most persistent of Kutch's 2021s. - Jancis Robinson

When Jamie Kutch traded the high-octane world of Wall Street for the rolling vineyards of California in 2005, many raised an eyebrow. But skepticism turned to acclaim when his debut Pinot Noir notched an impressive 93 points in Wine Spectator. Jamie honed his skills alongside industry giants: he worked at Sonoma’s esteemed Kosta Browne and gained invaluable insights from Aubert... Read More >>
