Ktima Kissa Assyrtiko 2025

Dimitris Kissa represents the fourth generation of this family estate, based in the enchanting, mountainous region of Corinth in the Peloponnese. This is remarkable terroir, yet still largely underappreciated. At elevations of 750–900 metres, with cooling winds sweeping in from the Gulf of Corinth, the wines retain exceptional freshness and acidity, paired with relatively low alcohol and a vibrant, energetic character.

Ktima Kissa's Assyrtiko plot is their toughest to farm: it is very rocky - Stournaropetra is the name of the flinty stone that dominates there - and steep, and the last to be harvested, typically well in the middle of October. Assyrtiko thrives in this setting, expressing a different side to its Santorini origins - trading volcanic intensity for bright, mountain-driven freshness.

An intriguing, gently smoky nose leads with yellow apple, lemon pith, dried herbs and subtle leesy notes. On the palate, it's full-bodied, textural and structured, yet remains agile and zippy thanks to Assyrtiko’s hallmark acidity. The finish is saline and lightly savoury, with delicate, appetising bitters. Delicious now, with the potential to develop further complexity with bottle age.

Perfect alongside seafood and pasta dishes, but also white meat or fried saganaki cheese.
