Hudson Carneros Napa Valley Syrah Magnum 2014

This bottle is in magnum format.

If California had a vineyard classification system, Hudson would without doubt be among those to class as a Grand Cru: their wines epitomise classic Californian Chardonnay at its best, lushness and opulence matched by exceptional balance. Alongside supplying grapes to some of the most prestigious wineries in California, including Kistler, Aubert and Kongsgaard, Hudson produces an exceptional range of wines. While Chardonnay is their undisputed speciality, their reds are world class, too.

Sourced from a heritage selection chosen for its classic varietal character, and inspired by the great wines of the Northern Rhône, this Syrah offers elegant texture, velvety tannins, and lively minerality, with lifted aromatics of lavender, cured meat, tapenade, and black pepper that carry through to a long, refined finish.

93/100 - The 2014 Syrah is made 100% from that variety, totally destemmed and again fermented with indigenous yeast, It goes through malolactic and is aged in 80% French oak. This is a small cuvée, but it’s a beautiful Northern Rhône-like Syrah, with notes of beef blood, bacon fat, tapenade, blackcurrant and blackberry fruit as well as a touch of creosote. It is medium to full-bodied, with impressive purity, texture and length. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
