If California had a vineyard classification system, Hudson would without doubt be among those to class as a Grand Cru: their wines epitomise classic Californian Chardonnay at its best, lushness and opulence matched by exceptional balance. Alongside supplying grapes to some of the most prestigious wineries in California, including Kistler, Aubert and Kongsgaard, Hudson produces an exceptional range of wines, with Chardonnay as their undisputed speciality.
Named in honour of Cristina Hudson, affectionately known as 'Ladybug', this cuvée is sourced from some of the estate's oldest Chardonnay vines. Cuttings from this vineyard were used to establish both the Little Bit and Seashell vineyards, underscoring its foundational role on the ranch.
95/100 - Sliced lime, jasmine and ginger aromas follow through to a medium-bodied wine with a tight and focused palate of lemon, light honey and hints of acacia. Complex and zesty. Drink or hold. - James Suckling
Whole-cluster pressed, fermented with native yeasts in French oak barrels (85% new) and bottled unfined and unfiltered after 22 months.
