While Felton Road may be best recognised for producing some of the Antipode's greatest Pinot Noirs, we think their Chardonnay more than matches up to its more famous red siblings. Grown around the small town of Bannockburn in Central Otago - New Zealand's vinous sweet spot - the grapes were farmed organically and biodynamically, before undergoing natural fermentation in well-seasoned French oak (only 5% new). Loaded with delicious notes of citrus and stone fruit, this Chardonnay strikes that all-too-rare, wonderful balance between electrifying acidity and appealing palate weight that distinguishes the world's greatest Chardonnays.
On the palate, enlivening acidity carried effortless with satisfying mid-palate weight. Clean with a detailed, graceful finish, characterised by a pleasing absence of overwrought oak notes.

Perfect as an apéro, you might consider pairing this Chardonnay with pan-seared scallops in lemon butter, grilled chicken with peach and fennel salad, or sushi.
