This Etna Rosso from Murgo is 100% Nerello Mascalese, sourced from a single parcel of their estate vineyard, San Michele, planted at around 500m in the volcanic soil of Mt. Etna's eastern slopes. Matured for 12 months in a mix of stainless-steel vats and French oak barriques for added complexity and structure, it pairs beautifully with grilled red meat, fresh pasta with meat sauce or grilled “Etna sausage” with “cauliceddi”.
Ruby red with a garnet rim, the nose has lovely concentration with notes of preserved strawberries, cloves, dried flowers and tobacco. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with refined tannins and mouth-watering freshness, and a long finish marked by ripe red fruit and spices. Drink now-2035.
