This bottling from Murgo, one of Sicily's foremost producers, is sourced from grapes grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. A blend of 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio, this is a beautifully fragrant rosso singing of fragrant aromas of wild strawberry. Aged - as tradition dictates - in chestnut barrels for 6-8 months, this is a wonderful red best enjoyed young and slightly chilled, paired alongside rustic pasta dishes or pizza.
91/100 - Pouring a transparent ruby color, the 2023 Etna Rosso benefits from a little air for its light reduction to blow off before showing off a refreshing profile of Bing cherries, smoky earth, peppercorn, and fresh flowers.
