Egly-Ouriet epitomise Grower Champagne, with fourth-generation winemaker Francis Egly being one of the primary catalysts in the category's rise in recent decades. This is his Vieillissement Prolongé - meaning ‘extended ageing’ – cuvée, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with all fruit sourced from Grand Cru sites. Aged for 7 years on its lees before disgorgement, thit is a superb sparkling with layer upon layer of complexity. If you want Champagne that packs a punch whilst retaining its finesse and elegance, look no further.
96/100 - VP stands for vieillissement prolongé, and this wine spends 84 months on the lees. It’s 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay and it’s bottled with 1 g/l dosage. Taut, complex nose of pear, apple and toast with marzipan and some linear citrus fruits. Great precision with concentrated citrus notes, a hint of cherry, and lovely focus.
