Egly-Ouriet Champagne 1er Cru Brut Les Vignes de Bisseuil

Ran by multi-generational Champenois Francis Egly, Egly-Ouriet has become something of a cult Champagne house, having pioneered the Grower Champagne movement. Les Vignes de Bisseuil is a 1er Cru bottling composed of 70% Chardonnay and equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, sourced from a single vineyard next to the town of Ay. Powerful and lively with lovely depth, this is a stunning Champagne from one of the region's greatest winemakers.

95/100 - It’s a new wine for Egly-Ouriet, from a 1.5 hectare vineyard they bought 10 years ago, next to Ay, but this is the first release because the vineyards were still rented out for a while. 70% Chardonnay and the rest is half/half Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Barrel fermented base wine. Despite the higher than normal Chardonnay content this is still Egly in style. Powerful and lively with lovely depth of flavour: spice, crystalline citrus, a hint of salinity, with depth and concentration but also freshness. Very fine. - Dr. Jamie Goode, WineAnorak 

94/100 - This release of the NV Champagne Vignes De Bisseuil is based on 2019 but also includes 2018 and 2017. In the glass it pours a bright silver straw hue and offers savory, ripe aromas of pear, melon rind, fresh earth, and briny salinity, with bold character and ample ripeness. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers a good deal of intensity and maybe even more fruity on the palate. It's a savory wine with lovely richness, a refined mousse, and a long finish.
