Thomas Morey is one of the Côte de Beaune's finest winemakers, achieving world-wide renown for his stunning cuvées crafted in the southern corner of the Côte de Beaune. Though best known for his Chardonnays, his Pinot Noirs are defined by their impressive depth and alluring structure. This red is sourced from the commune of Maranges, the southernmost village in the Côte de Beaune and one of Burgundy's most recent AOC designations. The vineyard sits on a south-facing slope, yielding low crops of concentrated yet elegant Pinot berries. Expect a dark, spicy red with lots of fresh raspberry fruit and subtle wood spice.
On the palate, juicy flavours of dark raspberries, black cherries, and blackberries. An attractive acidity beautifully balances lively, grippy tannins which lead to a stunningly long finish. A tad more structured than Thomas' other Pinots, this wine still shows all the elegance one expects from a Morey red.
