Owned by the Portalis family since 1752, Château Pradeaux is a benchmark for serious Bandol. Don’t be put off by the deeper colour or its natural opulence - this is rosé with intent. Built on Mourvèdre, it delivers layers of savoury complexity and is consistently one of the region’s most age-worthy examples. Serve well chilled, but approach it like a fine, light red.
93/100 - Cyrille Portalis has crafted an outstanding 2022 Bandol Rose. With a harmonious bouquet and aromas of red berries, spices, iodine, jasmine, wild strawberry and menthol, it’s round and supple, medium to full-bodied, layered and textured, with mineral acidity and an ethereal yet lively finish. On the nose, pronounced aromas of pink grapefruit, orange peel, and bergamot.
On the palate, dry and powerful with notes of Provençal garrigue and a touch of Campari bitter. The finish is long, luxurious, and dry.
A rather gastronomic rosé, this pink is best served alongside food. Try pairing with marinated rump of lamb, octopus slow cooked in a red wine reduction, or seared trout.
