Founded in 2011 by husband-and-wife team Matt (winemaking) and Alexis (business) Iaconis, Brick & Mortar work with coastal and high elevation vineyards within Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley and Napa Valley, able to express the elegance and purity of cool-climate Northern California fruit. The wines are made with minimal intervention, highlighting texture, freshness and balance.

Their Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir comes from a single vineyard in the cool climate of Carneros, just five miles from San Pablo Bay. This coastal proximity brings purity of fruit, lively natural acidity and precision.

93/100 - A softer, more aromatic energy surrounds this Pinot. Whispers of flowers, fresh cut herbs and cranberries swirl on the nose, while the palate brings flavors of dried cherry, anise, and some nice crunchy tannin to balance the dancing acidity. - Tom R. Capo, Wine Enthusiast

The wine undergos an extended cold soak until native yeasts begin a spontaneous fermentation in open-top fermenters. De-stemmed grapes are punched down by hand once to twice per day. The small lot fermentations take upwards of a month to finish, before a light pressing to barrel for their aging. The Pinot Noir then remains in French oak barrels (10% new) for 8 months prior to bottling, lightly filtered.
