PRODUCER: Delta
REGION: California
WINEMAKER: Matt Iaconis
Delta - meaning change, variation, gap - was born from a simple desire: to create a platform that makes a tangible difference in the fight to protect our planet. The project partners with organisations dedicated to positive environmental impact, from cleaning up our oceans to fighting climate change and reducing CO₂ emissions. For every bottle of Delta sold, a percentage of profits is donated to the Surfrider Foundation and Cool Effects.
WINERY HISTORY
After seven years of producing wine for their label Brick & Mortar, Matt and Alexis Iaconis launched Delta for Environmental Change in 2018. Their goal was to channel their passion for wine into meaningful environmental action, supporting non-profits such as the Surfrider Foundation and Cool Effect - both based in California but with global reach. Matt and Alexis live and make wine in Healdsburg, Sonoma County, with their three children.
VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING
Matt and Alexis work with sustainable vineyards throughout California to produce Delta wines. In line with the same philosophy behind Brick & Mortar, they search for vineyards that can produce fruit that expresses the beauty and richness of California, but can be picked earlier to retain natural acidity and produce balanced wines lower in alcohol.
They maintain relationships with growers in Lodi, Mendocino, and Sonoma who also value sustainability in the vineyard and ethical work environments for their teams.
GRAPE VARIETIES
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
