St. Amant Lodi Mohr-Fry Ranch Old Vine Petite Sirah 2023

California is one of the world's leading producers of the oft unsung Petite Sirah variety, also known as Durif. A crossing of Syrah and Peloursin which arose in France in the 1860s, the grape was planted widely in California by French immigrants in the late 19th century. Named for the tiny, highly concentrated berries the vine yields, Petite Sirah is a boldy structured, deeply-coloured red wine characterised by its high tannin content and dark fruit flavours. It thrives in the sandy sols and warmer climate of Lodi, where these ideal conditions yield bold and opulent wines with elegant structure. This iteration of the variety was sourced from the acclaimed Mohr-Fry Ranches vineyard, before ageing for 10 months in 16% new and 84% neutral Amreican oak. Sumptuous, alluring, and bursting with juicy flavours of red currant and blackberry, it will drink wonderfully now and for decades in the future.
